Presentation
The recent advances in off-road mobile robotics research permits to consider more and more autonomous solutions for actual applications. The ROBOTICS 2010 international workshop jointly organized by the Automation Technology for Off-Road Equipment (ATOE) and International Advanced Robotics Programme (IARP) aims at gathering Scientific and Engineering Communities around this topic.
This Symposium first aims at showing last advances in off-road mobile robots autonomy in terms of design, perception, decision and control. Full scale demonstrations of several prototypes and a set of selected talks will permit to draw an overview of the activity.
Opening discussions about the perspective and actual customer needs will secondly open the way to figure the future of off-road mobile robots in several areas (exploration, military …) with a particular focus on agriculture.
Several questions will then be tackled, as for example: How to increase autonomy of mobile robots including safety and security aspects? How to control a robot in rugged landscape under high speed? How to manage several autonomous machines working in close cooperation in the same area?
A focus is also proposed on new innovative mechatronics architectures for high modularity, flexibility and performances in total break with classical machines. Original middleware's embedded on robots are also encouraged to be presented.
The Symposium is then decomposed in two days. The first dedicated to full scale experiments exhibition, showing robots in real situations on the Cemagref experimental site (PAVIN-VMN). Free from restrictive challenge, teams proposing interesting prototypes and demonstrations are welcome to join the companies and laboratories already scheduled. The second day is devoted to the presentation of relevant advances around the topics mentioned above. Keynote speakers and selected papers will both present around 4 successive sessions.
